Job Description

The Security Manager will work the opposite shift, and perform the duties of the Director of Security in his absence. The Security Manager directs and provides for the safety and security of guests, employees, and hotel property in an effective, professional and guest-friendly manner commensurate with the demands of a four-star hotel. The position will provide such services in accordance with legal requirements and Loews Hotels corporate guidelines. It will oversee continuous security rounds and inspections of all guests and back of house areas, and direct proactive hotel safety and loss prevention efforts and emergency drills. Conducts investigations and provides timely follow-up concerning all hotel safety-related issues. Utilizes cost-efficient technologies and techniques to provide effective and seamless provision of security services. Essential Functions and Responsibilities include coordinating activities of all Security department personnel ensuring compliance with laws and company policies, delivering quality security services, directing physical property rounds, setting schedules for inspections, resolving and tracking security issues, interacting with Risk Management, responding to insurance claims, chairing safety committee, developing safety programs, preparing security logs and reports, maintaining driver’s list, reviewing reports, evaluating guest needs and trends, informing General Manager of safety matters, knowledge of emergency evacuation plans, coordinating hotel safety programs, maintaining Bloodborne Pathogen Exposure Control program, conducting investigations into work-related injuries, managing lost and found items, maintaining MSDS files, instructing and supervising new personnel, conducting training, rotating job assignments, coordinating first aid and safety training, developing relationships with law enforcement, managing key control program, monitoring CCTV and radio equipment, managing confidential records, maintaining statistics on incidents and accidents, coordinating locker checks, and other duties as assigned. Supportive functions include encouraging positive attitudes, notifying management of issues, following training programs, interviewing and coaching staff, promoting teamwork, attending meetings, maintaining cleanliness, executing emergency procedures, complying with safety regulations and hotel policies, and staying current on hotel information. Qualifications include excellent communication skills, outstanding organization and leadership, thorough knowledge of OSHA and relevant laws, decision-making ability, agility in multitasking, strong investigative skills, flexible schedule availability, a Bachelor degree in related field, and minimum five years experience as a Security Supervisor or related management experience.
