Director, Masters of Arts in Couples and Family Therapy Seattle University Director, Masters of Arts in Couples and Family Therapy Position Description Seattle University's Master of Arts in Couples in Family Therapy (MACFT) invites applications for the position of Program Director at the rank of associate or full clinical professor. This is a 12-month term faculty position (9-month faculty position with required administrative duties during the entire fiscal year). Successful applicants will have a demonstrated record of high-quality teaching, scholarship, and service. The appointment begins on September 1, 2025. The MACFT program has a strong commitment to social justice and training compassionate and ethical couples and family therapists. The 78 student, two year, in-person Commission on the Accreditation of Marriage and Family Therapy Education (COAMFTE) accredited program includes 3 full-time faculty, 1 part-time faculty who is the clinical coordinator, several affiliate (adjunct) faculty, and 2 part time staff members. The program director administers and is responsible for the overall operation of the MACFT program, including development, management, and assessment of the curriculum and related resources; training and supervision of faculty; and ensuring compliance with all COAMFTE standards. They will work collaboratively with the program's clinical coordinator, program coordinator, and administrative assistant. They will mentor students, including carrying an advising load. They will interface with the College of Arts and Sciences and Seattle University's admissions and marketing teams. As a faculty, the Director will teach MACFT courses and is expected to provide appropriate service to the Department, College, and University. The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellence in knowledge and practice in systemic therapy education and commitment to inclusivity. Qualifications Minimum qualifications: Earned doctoral degree in marriage and family therapy or a closely related discipline (graduates from doctoral COAMFTE-accredited programs preferred); Licensed as a Marriage and Family Therapist (WA preferred) Hold designation of AAMFT Approved Supervisor or Supervisor Candidate (must be an AAMFT Approved Supervisor within a year of hire) Strong teaching evaluations - graduate level preferred Familiarity with COAMFTE's standards and accreditation processes Experience with budgeting, personnel management, program evaluation, resource management, and scheduling Demonstrated participation record in shared governance at program, school, and university levels Effective interpersonal and collaborative management skills Experience working with diverse populations and a commitment to equity and inclusion Ability to recruit, interview, and build energized cohorts of students Preferred Qualifications Demonstrated leadership experience (e.g., program direction, mentoring faculty in teaching, scholarship, and service) Evidence of contribution/leadership with systemic therapy professional associations or regulatory boards (e.g., COAMFTE experience as site visitor) Record of publications and/or grant funding Founded in 1891, Seattle University is a Jesuit Catholic university located on a beautiful campus of more than 50 acres in the dynamic heart of Seattle. Compensation At a Glance Salary Range: $72,000 - $78,000 base salary depending on rank and experience at hire. An annual administrative stipend of $10,000 in addition to the base salary plus the equivalent of three course releases. First year stipend will be calculated based on start date. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, and not based on a candidate's gender or any other protected status.
