Job Description

SUMMARY:

Bronx House, Inc. is looking for a strong candidate who is enthusiastic, creative and has the ability to successfully assist with leading and supervising an outdoor day camp program in Rockland County, NY that serves over 350 campers during summer camp season and vacation and family programs throughout the school year. The director will be accountable for the overall management of these programs and is specifically responsible for personnel management, program development, and health and safety management in accordance with NYS Health Department and Bronx House policies. Camp Starts June 30- August 20th, 2025

PRE CAMP OPENING:
Assist Camp Director with the following:

• Day camp planning.
• Hiring and training of unit leaders, counselors, activity specialists, and other camp staff.
• Camper recruitment and registration.
• Organizing/attending camp open house tours and other special activities/events.
• Attending community street fairs and tabling events.
• Campsite readiness preparation.

Responsible for the following:

• Contact special event vendors to provide confirmations, make deposits, etc.
• Submit event supply orders to the camp director and the camp admin assistant.

DURING CAMP PROGRAM:
Assist Camp Director with the following:

• Creating/maintaining camp culture through coaching and role modeling.
• Co-facilitating/leading weekly staff meetings.
• Maintaining the overall program in accordance with Department of Health standards.
• Ensuring the safety and security of the camp community.

Responsible for the following:

• Ensure buses are arriving and leaving Bronx House on time-Report any issues to the Director.
• Providing supervision and coaching to Unit leaders.
• Ensuring unit leaders are routinely observing groups and coaching counselors throughout the day.
• Overseeing camp units during unit leader absences.
• Assist unit leaders with parent meetings and phone calls.
• Printing and distributing special event notices to bus counselors (for campers) and unit leaders (for counselors)
• Distribute special event notices to specialists.
• Coordinate daily schedule changes with the camp director for events.
• Coordinate event set up with camp supervisors, specialists, and vendors, depending on the event.
